How to Style Baggy Jeans: A Y2K Outfit Guide
Baggy jeans are the hardest piece to style and the most rewarding when you get it right. The whole Y2K silhouette lives or dies on the balance between the wide denim and what you wear above it.
The one rule
Volume against fit. If the jeans are wide, the top is fitted — a baby tee, a ribbed long sleeve, a cropped jersey. If the top is oversized, the jeans sit lower and cleaner. Two oversized pieces only work with a belt and the right shoes, and that is a more advanced look.
Five outfits that work
1. The fit-pic classic
Blue baggy jeans + white baby tee + chunky white sneakers. One chain necklace. This is the photo that made the aesthetic famous, and it still works because the contrast does all the work. Grab the women's baggy jeans and any fitted top from the tops edit.
2. The garage skater
Dirty-wash baggy denim + oversized hoodie + skate shoes. Add a beanie. The washes should clash a little — that is the point.
3. The blokecore remix
Wide jeans + a football or racing jersey top + retro runners. This is the loudest version, and the easiest to get wrong: keep the colours to two.
4. The mall-era clean look
Dark baggy jeans + fitted long sleeve + belt with hardware. No graphics. This is the version you can wear anywhere.
5. The layered autumn fit
Baggy jeans + baby tee + open flannel or bomber + chunky trainers. Three layers, all different volumes.
Shoes and hems
Baggy denim stacks on the shoe. Chunky soles — retro runners, skate shoes, moto boots — hold the silhouette. Thin-soled shoes disappear under the hem and make the jeans look too big instead of intentional.
Wear it your way
The women's and men's baggy jeans collections are organised by wash and fit, and every product page has its own size chart so you can pick the exact drape you want.
